Jennifer Bishop is an event planning professional with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Prior to founding J. Leigh Events in 2013, she spent 8 years planning events of all sizes for a nonprofit. She found her passion for creating and facilitating community events and knew she wanted to do more of it in Charlotte.
Since then, Jennifer has slowly built up her team and professional resume. She’s planned everything from weddings to shopping center events, nonprofit robotics competitions to large-scale dining experiences. She’s worked with presidential campaigns, restaurant groups, small business owners and expecting families. Her breadth of experience in event planning has made her a sought-after professional for events in Charlotte and the wider area.
Her start with a nonprofit lives on in her current work. Nonprofit events, be it fundraisers or volunteer events, are some of her favorites to plan. She spent 4 years volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte for their yearly fundraiser, a fashion show called Girl’s Night Out. Jennifer co-chaired the 2015 and 2016 event and oversaw the organization and execution of all aspects of planning for the fashion show portion of the event.
Likewise, her commitment to the Charlotte community runs deep. She is on the board of the Bayhaven Restaurant Group, a Black-owned and managed restaurant group supporting Black chefs in the Charlotte area and beyond through their restaurants and dining experiences, such as the Bayhaven Food and Wine Festival. J. Leigh Events is the event planner for this massive food festival celebrating Black culture and food.

Brittney is one of our most senior event planners with over 10 years of experience in the industry. She's planned everything from weddings to social, corporate and non-profit events. She's someone we can always count on to bring us creative solutions because she loves to problem solve and use event planning as her creative outlet.
When she's not hanging with us or our clients, she loves to spend time with her husband and daughter. We knew she'd be the perfect addition to the team because her favorite things are french fries, champagne, and tacos.
Erica is another event planner on our team who loves the process from beginning to end, but especially seeing everything come to fruition at the end. Her background is in marketing, but for the past 13 years she's been serving the Charlotte area as an extremely talented wedding planner, so she brings a lot to the table for us!
She grew up nearby, so she's almost a Charlotte native. During her free time she loves spending time with her family at Lake Lure!
Sam is one of the newest event planners to join the team, but they've jumped right into the mix! They have a super unique background in community through coworking spaces and gardening here in Charlotte, and they're looking forward to using those same skills in event planning. In 2022 they founded Just Plant A Bean with the goal of increasing the number of community and individual gardeners in the city.
When they aren't working on their own business or helping us out, Sam loves in their own garden, particularly with their cat, Scorpion George.
