Summertime is coming through the Carolina clouds in a little over a month. So, it’s time to start looking forward to trips, festivals, activities, and events for the entire family! The best way to discover new events for family, friends, and company is through Facebook, Instagram, or subscribing to Charlotte’s top media and news channels - like Axios Charlotte, Charlotte’s Got a Lot, Qcity Metro, and QC Exclusive. But today, J. Leigh Events gives you a preview list of fun events this summer in CLT.
Maybe it’s a small family game night in the living room with the windows open or friends and family game night in the backyard with string lights and a bonfire. Or, you could imagine something for the entire community where different families come together to let their children play together and enjoy some low-key entertainment for all ages. Whichever meaning works for you, try having or going to some family game nights this summer. You can keep it small or decide to attend a local family game night hosted nearby.
A family game night event is happening this summer at Waverly Shopping Center. Waverly Shopping Center has retailers, like Urbane South, Ulta, Scout & Mollys, Athleta, and restaurants, like CO, Chuey’s, Carolina Ale House, Foxcroft Wine Co., and more! Bring your family and friends for light shopping, dinner, and music bingo starting at 6 PM. After the game ends, stop by Haagen Daz for an ice cream nightcap.
Movie nights at home or a drive-in movie theater make Oscar-worthy summer memories. It might feel more like a movie night than a game night, and that’s okay! Make the movie night special with some decorations, special snacks (popcorn and cold soda, of course!), and a giant projector screen. Some of our favorite summer movies are Moana, Sisterhood of the traveling pants, ET, and Independence Day.
Enjoy a summer evening at Promenade with dinner and a movie, but remember to bring a blanket or chairs for the film. Promenade Shopping Center features Secret Life of Pets 2 and Space Jam on the green. The movie begins at 8:30 pm, but pre-evening activities start at 6:30 pm. Learn more about Promenade Summer Movie Nights here.
Summer concerts make the hot days cooler. Bring the swag out for music, dancing, food trucks, and local vendors all summer. What are you even doing if you’re not planning to jump up and down in the grass and wave your hands in the air while wearing your favorite pair of shades?
We know that Waverly and Promenade on Providence Shopping Center have summer concerts this year. Waverly hasn’t released the official dates yet, but it will start sometime in June and continue through the end of summer. The best way to get the inside scoop is to follow Waverly @waverlyclt and Promenade @promenadeonprovidence.
Juneteenth occurs on June 19, 2022, to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. Charlotteons celebrate the commemoration by throwing festivals for the Black community around the city. Some groups, like BLKMRKT, create celebrations with music, dancing, rides, food trucks, and vendors in honor of Juneteenth.
Camp North End has events throughout the week, including farmers’ markets, live music, art, yoga, and shopping. Plus, other local businesses use Camp North End spaces to host their events and experiences. You can learn more about their featured events on their website.
