Shopping centers are built on community - both the community that shows up to support the variety of businesses there, but also the community within the center coming together to promote each other’s businesses. It’s one of the reasons why we love working with shopping centers to activate their spaces.
Recently we had the most fun planning a Waverly Wine Walk at Waverly in South Charlotte, and it reminded the whole team how much fun these events can be, and it’s even better when we get to help out a good cause.
We had 16 total merchants participate in the wine walk. Attendees paid $20 to attend the wine walk, with all proceeds going toward Humane Society of Charlotte and Claire’s Army, two local charities in need of support. Their ticket included the wine tasting as well! Once they arrived at Waverly, the J. Leigh Events team checked IDs and gave participants wristbands to note they were participating and over 21.
From there, folks could sip wine at each participating business and collect stamps on a passport from each business. Those who completed the passport at the night were given a $20 Waverly Gold coin to be used at any of the participating businesses.
In addition to the Wine Walk itself, shops planned special sales, discounts, freebies and giveaways throughout the night to encourage participation.
All in all, it was a huge success! Sales between the two wine walks we hosted were over $15K, which was a huge boost to the small businesses participating. We sold a total of 73 tickets and were able to raise $1,345.39 to go toward the charities.
We love an event that’s not only fun, but is for a good cause and helps support small businesses. Our Waverly Wine Walks were a total win for our team and theirs!
