How to Throw the Ultimate Tailgate Party

How to Throw the Ultimate Tailgate Party

Are you ready for some football? (You’re singing the Monday Night Football theme now, aren’t you? Me, too.)

So, let’s huddle up and talk game plan - like, your game plan for watch-parties and tailgating.

Regardless of who your team is, we can all agree on one thing - food and drinks make a tailgate. (You know what also makes a tailgate? One of our custom boxes with your favorite team’s logo, branding, and colors. But more on that later!)

Let’s start with the checklist of all the things you are going to need to pack if you are tailgating near your hometown stadium.

  • GRILLIN’ GOODS
If you are going to be cooking on site then you are going to need to pack all of the following:
  • COOLERS
You will need two coolers when heading out for a tailgate. One for drinks & ice and one for food; depending on how much you drink or plan to cook you may need more than just two. Just make sure you designate one for each. J. LEIGH TIP: When you are packing your drink cooler go ahead and attach one or two bottle openers. That way they are close by and people don’t keep asking if someone has a bottle opener.
  • A PLACE TO SIT - OR A PLACE TO SIT AND EAT
You are going to need a place to put all the delicious food you are serving, so be sure to have a few 6ft tables on hand to take with you. A few chairs are nice at a tailgate but not necessary, most people will be standing up around and chatting.
  • PAPER PRODUCTS
You are going to need something to for people to eat off of and with. Why not make the plates match your home team pride? J. Leigh Events is happy to announce custom tailgating boxing for your game day! We can design and create a box specifically with your favorite team - complete with all the NFL-approved logos, colors, and branding.
  • THE LITTLE STUFF
There is always a list of little things we forget to pack but you will definitely need on the day of:
    • Trash bags
    • Paper towels
    • Wet wipes

  • The EXTRAS
While the following things are not necessary, they are nice to have to take your tailgate to the next level.
    • Pop-up tent, a good 10x10 tent will help tremendously to keep your food in the shade.
    • Bluetooth speaker, listen to the pre-show or create your own playlist for the day.
    • Games, when you are hanging out before the game what is better than a game of cornhole or ladder golf?

    • THE FOOD
For ideas on what to serve at your tailgate or watch party check out our Pinterest board. Share your favorite tailgating recipes and tips below!

Now that you have your what to pack list, you just need to pick the date of your tailgate and go order your custom party box to impress all of your friends at the next game!
