The J. Leigh Events team works closely with Subrina and Greg Collier of the Bayhaven Restaurant Group, “a group of boutique, chef-driven hospitality concepts focused on economic empowerment and community building through the hospitality industry.” Over the last few years, you’ve probably seen them all over social media and the news, but recently, they’ve been making massive strides for their business, brand, and communities.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Colliers, they are the owners of Leah & Louise Southern Juke Joint at Camp North End, Beyond Amazing Donuts, and Uptown Yolk. They founded the Bayhaven Food & Wine Festival, and J. Leigh had the honor to help them with their first series of events last October (and we’ll be working with them this year, too!).
So, with everything they have accomplished over the past decade since opening their first restaurant in 2012, we’re so excited to celebrate our client’s recent success and nominations. Subrina and Greg featured on Good Morning America earlier this month, sharing a staple Southern recipe - cornmeal-fried trout and grits.
Not only are they making history on morning television, but Chef Greg Collier also received his third nomination for “best chef in the Southeast” from the James Beard Foundation. Our favorite Chef hopes his nominations show other Black culinarians a limitless path to success.
Our team is so honored to have the Colliers and the Bayhaven Community as one of our clients by helping them advance the Black community through hospitality. So, for Black History Month and every month forward, we simply cannot wait to get a taste of what they do next.
Happy Black History Month!
